First off, we are excited that you can join in our wedding celebration! Attending a wedding out of town requires plenty of planning and we really do appreciate the time and effort you have taken to share in our special day.
We would like to welcome our out-of-town guests to hot hot, sunny Miami. We hope that in addition to attending our wedding, you will take advantage of the local sights, sounds, and tastes of South Florida.
We hope the information below will help plan your visit and make your stay a fun, comfortable, and wonderful one.
Sun, sand, salsa and style -- Miami is distinctly different from any other city in America or any city in Latin America, for that matter. This is no sleepy little beach outpost, nor drowsy southern town. Miami is a lively chic city with multicultural and historical surprises where you can get up close and personal with its infectious beach lifestyle, soak up the serenity of unspoiled landscapes, and mingle with your favorite celebrities, bikini models and Cuban émigrés.
Definitely, enjoy the trendy dining and nightlife scene of South Beach Art Deco district (SoBe), where its cheerful, neon-pastel buildings and palm-tree-lined avenues please the hip and unhip alike. Elsewhere in the city, Coconut Grove and Coral Gables offer their own versions of fine living, shopping and dining.
If you will be flying into South Florida, you may choose to fly into the Miami International Airport (MIA) or the Fort Lauderdale Airport (FLL). The Omni Colonnade Hotel is about 4 miles (15 minutes) drive from MIA and 28 miles (45 minute) drive from FLL.
The summer months are low season travel for Miami. The average cost of airfares from the west coast is about $300-$350. All major airlines fly into MIA and FLL.
A rental car in Miami is highly recommended as public transportations are not easily
accessible and attractions are far apart from each other.
The Omni Colonnade Hotel is an elegant, historic landmark hotel located in the heart of Coral Gables and just steps away from the city's premier shopping and dining experience. We have blocked a set of rooms at a rate of $99/night for our guests attending the wedding. Please contact Susanne for more information on how to make your reservations with these rates.
Additionally, the Omni Colonnade also offers a Select Guest reward program where your membership qualifies you to special offers. Your initial membership package will include certificates for 50%-off weekend (Friday & Saturday) nights stay and a complimentary room upgrade (based on current room rate). You can use these certificates when making your room reservations through the Omni hotel directly. Please sign-up for membership at least six weeks in advance to receive your membership package in time for reservations.
Alternatively, guests can opt for one of the other fine hotels in Coral Gables or surrounding areas, such as South Beach, Coconut Grove or downtown Miami.

Take a day trip to the Florida Keys , a 120-mile stretch of sparsely populated islands that are closer to Cuba and the Caribbean than to mainland Florida in both sensibility and actual distance.

Hungry? The city is teeming with celebrity chefs and most have an inventive flair derived from flavors found in kitchens around the globe. Tropical treats such as mango, starfruit, avocado, papaya, cilantro, yucca, guava, and plantains are used lavishly, and stone crabs, conch, grouper, and Florida lobster make frequent mouthwatering appearances, sometimes along more contemporary or Continental items.
